In order to get an idea what went wrong, I need more information.
Usualle, 'update-initramfs' works as expected. the crypttab is only
included if either the rootfs encrypted, or one of the encrypted
partitions is a partition needed for resume operations.

Can you provide further information? What did you do step by step?
Please provide your /etc/fstab.
