Sorry I screwed up while testing this bug. I mistakenly thought that
the test build with /tmp not on btrfs had succeeded. The package failed
to build in the test chroot in question even without btrfs. I think it
was a locale issue but i'm not sure. I then accidentally destroyed the
chroot and had to recreate it. Overall i've been having a bad day.
After rerunning the amd tests in a new chroot the build succeded both
with and without btrfs it seems that either the problem is not /tmp on
btrfs or the problem is architecture specific (possiblly raspbian
specific, possiblly only arm specific). I'll try and post more as I
discover it.
For reference the original raspbian build log that triggered this
investigation can be found at
http://buildd.raspbian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=libarchive&arch=armhf&ver=3.1.2-7&stamp=1371999301
I need to get some sleep now but i'll try to do some further
investigation soon.
