I didn't try the python mailing list yet, that might be a good way of handling this. I tried asking for mentoring on #debian-python, but they said I might have more luck when advertising on #debian-mentors, since my package is not maintained by DPMT basically.
But I think I'll try the mailing list approach and then try fetching someone that could be interested on #debian-mentors.
