Ubuntu has a fix for this bug. Since your package is in collab-maint,

Hello Emilio and Jeremy,
thank you for your work on this bug. Please excuse my ignorance but I
don't quite even see the significance of this bug. I hope you can help
me understand. From where I stand, a recommendation is just that, a
recommendation. The only effect that I can see of the recommends line
going forward is that it would keep a an already-present package
installed. If the package is not available from the repositories
anymore it wouldn't be any problem. For me, that is actually desirable
behaviour. If there is a version conflict between the evolution
packages then that should better be documented and fixed there, I feel.
I appreciate people working in collab-maint as it helps me getting
things fixed quicker. A minor nitpick would be that pushing to a
separate branch is preferred as it makes it easier to override a
proposed change in case I do not want to include it (or not in the way
it is proposed). Thanks again for your collaboration.
Regards
Rolf
