The startup scan needs to examine every file in the repository to detect changes made while the assistant is not running. This necessarily takes some time with a lot of files. I don't see much potential for speeding it up. I assume it must be syncing from a repository on the USB drive, if it's attached? That's a separate activity from the startup scan. -- see shy jo
