Hi! I've upgraded to Wheezy and the problem still persists. Compare:
This is with stock Debian kernel linux-image-3.2.0-4-686-pae:
# hdparm -tT /dev/sda
/dev/sda:
Timing cached reads: 2528 MB in 2.00 seconds = 1264.55 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 16 MB in 3.45 seconds = 4.64 MB/sec
And this is with kernel 3.2.41 I compiled myself:
# hdparm -tT /dev/sda
/dev/sda:
Timing cached reads: 3152 MB in 2.00 seconds = 1577.22 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 178 MB in 3.01 seconds = 59.13 MB/sec
