Source: packagekit
Version: 0.7.6-3
Severity: important

I have an apt job running on a nightly basis to update the package
database and download any updates (but not to install them - I prefer
to do that manually).

update-notifier used to put an icon in the notification tray to warn
me if there were updates available, with a different icon if there
were security updates. Recently, these icons started coming from the
packagekit files.

Having noticed that update-notifier has become a transitional package,
I removed it completely, retaining the corresponding packagekit
packages:

polya:~ $ dpkg -l '*packagekit*' | grep ii | cut -c-60
ii gnome-packagekit 3.4.2-2
ii gnome-packagekit-data 3.4.2-2
ii libpackagekit-glib2-14:amd64 0.7.6-3
ii packagekit 0.7.6-3
ii packagekit-backend-aptcc 0.7.6-3
ii packagekit-tools 0.7.6-3
ii python-packagekit 0.7.6-3

But now, although aptitude shows that there are 7 security updates
available, nothing is appearing in the notification area to inform me
of this. I am running XFCE4 (xfce4 4.8.0.3 and its dependencies).
