I'm actually confused now a little bit where the canonical Debian repo
is supposed to be if you say that you imported the version too.

Weren't you handing over the package to the Debian GNOME team (or was it
the other way around). I honestly don't remember.
I'm perfectly fine with the Debian GNOME team handling this since I
didn't put enough care into that package for quiet some time.

like to know if you want to do so, where the repo should be, to
avoid confusion and duplication of work.

I used
ssh://git.debian.org/~/public_git/system-config-printer.git
while woring on the package since I'm a bit quicker with git than with
svn and often work offline on packages but I can use git-svn for that
but let's keep it under pkg-gnome.
