Package: spamassassin
Version: 3.3.2-5
Followup-For: Bug #405713

Dear Maintainer,
This issue has effected
  - at least 5 machines I have worked with. (and many virtuals)
  - has remained across versions.
  - blocks upgrades and even initial _install on stable releases_.
  - blocks sa-update (and others)

While solution(s) seem simple
("nameserver s/::1/127.0.0.1/ and remove the options inet6 line from
/etc/resolv.conf)
Its tricky getting to that solution on fresh installs.
(without foreknowledge)

There are --inet6 options that maybe added to /etc/default/spamassassin
(I have not tested them as a solution if they fix this it seems the sanest
option)

Perhaps a DNS_Note.fix or somesuch in with the //share/docs (at least)
Or better an install time warning at least.

I note that this is not directly a spamassassin bug but rather one or more of
the lib-io-*
perl modules.

My long term fix is to install spamassassin within an LXC (container).
So that I may upgrade other software without it breaking Spamassassin.
(which has happened)

FWIW very similar IPv6 issues occur with cpan builds.
Some weird perl dependency thing I expect.
The existance of AAA::Mail::SpamAssassin is of note.
So the real issue remain upstream.

Do we need to run sa-update at install time ?
