Hi,

just digging through old bug reports that are still assigned to
removed packages...

I'd think almost any program that accepts host names will also accept
IP addresses, so this is hardly a surprising feature. If you still
think this deserves to be mentioned in the documentation, please try
to submit a patch to the pgsql-hackers list.

I'll close the Debian bug here. Sorry for the somewhat late response.
