Package: nautilus Version: 3.4.2-1+build1 Followup-For: Bug #708185 This is a very recent issue, it used to work like 3-5 days ago.
BTW, it also affects Nemo (from unstable at least, 1.8.1-1), and the Nautilus package hasn't been upgraded recently, so maybe it's not directly a Nautilus issue. The issue seems to be that Nautilus is not able to find the generated thumbnails anymore and simply keeps generating them again and again. You can check that the content of ~/.thumbnails/normal is re-generated again and again, without a reason. As a result, Nautilus uses a little more than 1 full CPU when display a directory containing thumbnailable files. This of course affects thumbnails for new files (for which one had to be generated) and for older files that already had a thumbnail there. -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.utf8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages nautilus depends on: ii desktop-file-utils 0.21-1 ii gsettings-desktop-schemas 3.4.2-3 ii gvfs 1.12.3-4 ii libatk1.0-0 2.8.0-2 ii libc6 2.17-2 ii libcairo-gobject2 1.12.14-4 ii libcairo2 1.12.14-4 ii libexempi3 2.2.0-1 ii libexif12 0.6.21-1 ii libgail-3-0 3.4.2-6 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.28.1-1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.36.1-2build1 ii libglib2.0-data 2.36.1-2build1 ii libgnome-desktop-3-2 3.4.2-1 ii libgtk-3-0 3.4.2-6 ii libnautilus-extension1a 3.4.2-1+build1 ii libnotify4 0.7.5-2 ii libpango1.0-0 1.30.0-1 ii libselinux1 2.1.13-1 ii libtracker-sparql-0.14-0 0.14.1-3 ii libx11-6 2:1.5.0-1 ii libxml2 2.8.0+dfsg1-7+nmu1 ii nautilus-data 3.4.2-1+build1 ii shared-mime-info 1.0-1+b1 Versions of packages nautilus recommends: ii brasero 3.4.1-4 ii eject 2.1.5+deb1+cvs20081104-13 ii gnome-sushi 0.4.1-4 ii gvfs-backends 1.12.3-4 ii librsvg2-common 2.36.1-1 Versions of packages nautilus suggests: ii eog 3.4.2-1+build1+b1 ii evince [pdf-viewer] 3.4.0-3.1 ii totem 3.0.1-8+b1 ii tracker 0.14.1-3 ii vlc [mp3-decoder] 2.0.6-1 ii vlc-nox [mp3-decoder] 2.0.6-1 ii xdg-user-dirs 0.14-1 -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
