Any reason to keep this open? Once util-linux is recompiled, the FTBFS will be resolved automatically. Or is eglibc buggy by not being backwards compatible, such that binaries compiled against the old glibc won't run if eglibc is installed, requiring a rebuild from source of the entire universe, and meaning that any old binaries from say, Steam, will all break? If so, I'd call this a huge, horrendous eglibc bug that should disqualify it from being installed as the default C library until it is fixed.
