Package: util-linux
Version: 2.20.1-5.3
Severity: normal

Hi,

A new upstream release is available. Amongst other things,
this fixes a number of mount bugs relating to /etc/mtab and
having it symlinked to /proc/mounts. It would be nice to
have this in unstable soon, so that /etc/mtab can be removed
entirely--there's pending stuff in sysvinit that's blocked
until this is done.

The new release is at
https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/util-linux/v2.23/util-linux-2.23.tar.xz

I'm happy to forward-port the existing util-linux patchiset if
you're pushed for time. However, at least looking in the
git repo in the latest package's Vcs-Git field, there's no
trace of any of the recent uploads unless I'm not looking at the
correct branches and/or tags. Is this in a new repo, or not
pushed? I would be happy to work on util-linux as a
part-time co-maintainer if you would like the assistance--there
are a substantial number of bugs which need attention.

Thanks,
Roger
