Unfortunately, these do not seem to give much humanity, or a reason for the decision against applying the patch in debian as well in the meantime. (To follow the debian-devel discussion, unblock other bugs, and close the gap to ubuntu.) Also, could you please state clearly wether you actually forwarded the patch to upstream, and what its meaninfull upstream status is.
