Having the old packages still "available" will change the scores assigned by 
apt: the previously "obsolete" packages will now get the 
PrioInstalledAndNotObsolete bonus (which defaults to 1), so this may change 
some ranking and ties might be resolved differently.
Due to apt bug #699759 scoring for leaf packages is very fragile ...

Since adding back openoffice.org-core as a transitional did not help here, it 
is probably the combination of several transitionals needed to "fix" this 
issue.

Let me see if I can dig into this some further ...
