Package: debhelper Version: 9.20120909 Severity: wishlist Hi,
Policy 3.9.4 mandates that binary packages which are built by using source code from other packages (build-dependencies) need to have a Built-Using header. Currently generating such a header dynamically looks as ugly and hard to remember as this: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=5;filename=gdb-avr-built-using.diff;att=1;bug=696397 It would be nice if there would be a debhelper named dh_builtusing or similar, which gets those source package names as parameters which should go into the Built-Using header and does all of the remaining work. Additionally dh_gensymbols should automatically add according Built-Using headers if dh_builtusing is used in debian/rules. -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.0 APT prefers testing-updates APT policy: (902, 'testing-updates'), (901, 'testing-proposed-updates'), (900, 'testing'), (800, 'unstable'), (110, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages debhelper depends on: ii binutils 2.22-8 ii dpkg 1.16.10 ii dpkg-dev 1.16.10 ii file 5.11-2 ii html2text 1.3.2a-15 ii man-db 2.6.2-1 ii perl 5.14.2-21 ii po-debconf 1.0.16+nmu2 debhelper recommends no packages.
