Hi Alexandre, thanks for adopting the package. I did not look into the package precisely, sorry, but there are a couple of notes.
1) It seems, you have taken the version 2.1a-7.1 as the base, but in unstable the version 2.2a-1 is available and there are a lot of "packaging" changes there. 2) Do not change the license of debian/* files, because "legally" you need to get a permission from all people, contributed there to do that. 3) Use VCS 4) Try to use autoreconf.
