Package: git
Version: 1:1.7.10.4-2
Severity: important

I use apache2 with LocationMatch to serve git.
http://article.tree.se/tools/git/https

A fully protected repository works, but a read only fails
as one is not asked for password when trying to write to it.
Updates to the repository fails.

The debian version of git have a problem with this configuration
as discussed in the thread "git no longer prompting for password"
http://marc.info/?l=git&m=134583962227528&w=2 on the git maillist.
git version 1.7.10.4 show this behavior. From
further investigation a fix seems to have been merged into
1.7.11.7 https://github.com/git/git/commits/v1.7.11.7
with commit 7d9483c299
https://github.com/git/git/commit/7d9483c299b4467fb4c6d32ade8207232235528c

http://article.tree.se/tools/git/https#idp11728 (see Warning)
and configuration example. The problem occurs when "Read access" is commented
out.
