A fully protected repository works, but a read only fails as one is not asked for password when trying to write to it. Updates to the repository fails. The debian version of git have a problem with this configuration as discussed in the thread "git no longer prompting for password" http://marc.info/?l=git&m=134583962227528&w=2 on the git maillist. git version 1.7.10.4 show this behavior. From further investigation a fix seems to have been merged into 1.7.11.7 https://github.com/git/git/commits/v1.7.11.7 with commit 7d9483c299 https://github.com/git/git/commit/7d9483c299b4467fb4c6d32ade8207232235528c http://article.tree.se/tools/git/https#idp11728 (see Warning) and configuration example. The problem occurs when "Read access" is commented out. -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages git depends on: ii git-man 1:1.7.10.4-2 ii libc6 2.13-38 ii libcurl3-gnutls 7.30.0-1 ii liberror-perl 0.17-1 ii libexpat1 2.1.0-1 ii perl-modules 5.14.2-21 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.7.dfsg-13 Versions of packages git recommends: ii less 456-1 ii openssh-client [ssh-client] 1:6.0p1-4 ii patch 2.6.1-3 ii rsync 3.0.9-4 Versions of packages git suggests: ii gettext-base 0.18.1.1-10 pn git-arch <none> ii git-cvs 1:1.7.10.4-2 pn git-daemon-run | git-daemon-sysvinit <none> pn git-doc <none> ii git-el 1:1.7.10.4-2 pn git-email <none> pn git-gui <none> ii git-svn 1:1.7.10.4-2 pn gitk <none> pn gitweb <none> -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
