It isn't necessary to make libsnack2 purely virtual (though I might do this in the future). Since libsnack2-alsa provides libsnack2, one can make wavesurfer depend on libsnack2 (without version) which will make wavesurfer installable either with libsnack2 or with libsnack2-alsa.
