This sounds like a driver-related and/or hardware-specific issue to me (I certainly don't have the same symptoms). Can you please test the latest upstream release (0.0.13-1, currently in sid) and report back on whether or not it's still reproducible? Also, can you please attach your log files, i.e. the html files and "system_info.txt" found under ~/.config/0ad/logs/?
