Package: bsdmainutils Version: 9.0.3 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
It appears that /usr/share/calendar/calendar.debian has not (with the recent exception of bug 695911) been updated in some time. The following additions and changes would bring it up to date: - the header points to a CVS server at infodrom.org, but the latest version there is even older than the version of this file stored in Debian. Perhaps the current version should be pushed upstream, or the CVS header of the file should be updated to point to a more-current upstream location (such as the Debian repository)? - a new Project leader will be selected in a couple weeks, and should be added to this file at that time - sadly, 3 Debian contributors have died who have been honored in Debian News Releases or the Debian History, and should be added to the 'Days of death' section: - 2008-12-26 Thiemo Seufer, http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/project-history/ch-detailed.en.html - 2010-08-20 Frans Pop, http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/project-history/ch-detailed.en.html - 2011-04-17 Adrian von Bidder http://www.debian.org/News/2011/20110423 - also, there is one birthdate in the 'Days of death' section. It seems odd to see it there, though it should probably remain if there is rationale for its presence (I couldn't find any after a very quick search). - the etch and lenny lines use spaces instead of tabs between the date and text, unlike every other line in the file - Debian Bug#700,000 filed: 2013-02-07 by Cédric Boutillier http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=700000 - in case it doesn't survive its way into this bug report, note the accent mark over the 'e' in 'Cédric' - Here are some interesting dates which _I_ thought might be notable enough to be added to the 'Notably other dates' section: - 1997-07-05 debian social contract ratified http://www.debian.org/social_contract - 1999-05-03 logo chosen http://www.debian.org/vote/1999/vote_0004 - 2004-04-26 debian social contract v1.1 ratified http://www.debian.org/vote/2004/vote_003 http://www.debian.org/social_contract - 2009-07-29 debian adopts time-based release freezes http://www.debian.org/News/2009/20090729 - 2010-09-05 backports becomes official http://www.debian.org/News/2010/20100905 - 2012-03-03 debian project joins the osi http://www.debian.org/News/2012/20120330 - 2012-06-03 diversity statement ratified http://www.debian.org/vote/2012/vote_002 - two instances of 'Notably' should probably be spelled 'Notable' Here's a patch with all of the above, in case it's convenient. Of course feel free to cherry-pick only the interesting bits. The patch is against the version of calendar.debian in bsdmainutils 9.0.3, the wheezy version, rather than 9.0.4 to which the squeeze release date has already been added. --- /usr/share/calendar/calendar.debian 2012-02-06 17:48:46.000000000 -0800 +++ calendar.debian 2013-04-01 15:37:12.413886589 -0700 @@ -1,11 +1,4 @@ -/* - * Interesting dates around Debian collected at Infodrom - * - * http://cvs.infodrom.org/calendar/calendar.infodrom.debian?cvsroot=infodrom - * :pserver:anonym...@cvs.infodrom.org:/var/cvs/infodrom co calendar/calendar.infodrom.debian - * - * $Id: calendar.infodrom.debian,v 1.16 2006-12-10 12:23:50 joey Exp $ - */ +/* Interesting dates around Debian, originally compiled by Infodrom */ #ifndef _calendar_infodrom_debian_ #define _calendar_infodrom_debian_ @@ -21,9 +14,9 @@ Apr 17 Sam Hocevar became Debian Project Leader, 2007 Apr 17 Steve McIntyre became Debian Project Leader, 2008 Apr 17 Stefano Zacchiroli became Debian Project Leader, 2010 +Apr 17 [Gergely Nagy|Moray Allan|Lucas Nussbaum] became Debian Project Leader, 2013 /* Days of death */ -Jun 11 Jens 'jensen' Schmalzig born in Nuremburg, 1971 Jul 11 Joel 'Espy' Klecker died at the age of 21, 2000 Mar 1 Christopher Matthew Rutter died at the age of 19, 2001 Mar 28 Fabrizio Polacco passed away, 2001 @@ -31,6 +24,9 @@ May 9 Manuel 'ranty' Estrada Sainz died in car accident, 2004 May 9 Andres 'ErConde' Garcia died in car accident, 2004 Jul 30 Jens 'jensen' Schmalzig died in tragic accident, 2005 +Dec 26 Thiemo Seufer, died in a car accident, 2008 +Aug 20 Frans Pop, 2010 +Apr 17 Adrian 'cmot' von Bidder passed away, 2011 /* Debian releases */ Oct 26 Debian GNU/Linux 0.93R6 released, 1995 @@ -43,23 +39,32 @@ Aug 15 Debian GNU/Linux 2.2 alias ``potato'' relased, 2000 Jul 19 Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 alias ``woody'' released, 2002 Jun 6 Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 alias ``sarge'' released, 2005 -Apr 8 Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 alias ``etch'' released, 2007 -Feb 14 Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 alias ``lenny'' released, 2009 +Apr 8 Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 alias ``etch'' released, 2007 +Feb 14 Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 alias ``lenny'' released, 2009 +Feb 6 Debian GNU/Linux 6.0 alias ``squeeze'' released, 2011 -/* Notably bug report numbers */ +/* Notable bug report numbers */ Jun 7 Debian Bug#100000 reported by David B.
