This is going to take some work on your end to get fixed. 3.2.39-1 included backported patches from aspects of the i915 driver. To help, you could do some testing by unapplying those patches and rebuilding the kernel package to figure out which one is causing your crash. You can find what has changed between 3.2.35 and 3.2.39 by using debdiff from the devscripts package, and the patches that you'll want to unapply will be in debian/patches.
