Dpkg, how about an idiom like the following for processing short options: } elsif (/-a(.*)$/) { - $targetarch = $1; + $targetarch = $1 || shift @ARGV; } perhaps using a ‘maybeshiftopt’ that does shift if the next element of ARGV does not begin with "-", or return ""?
