reassign 702673 cups thanks
Hello, Stefan. Thank you for the error log. > At least now I know that the PPDs don't seem to be the problem… > > As suggested on #debian-printing I enabled LogLevel debug (I attach the > log file) and tried again. This time, the LED blinked for 6min 30sec, > then I got two pages: one was empty, the other one contained this: > > ERROR: > timeout > OFFENDING COMMAND: > timeout > STACK: > -mark- > -mark- > -mark- Which is slightly different from what was in your first mail. I do not know whether that is significant. > After that, the green LED stopped blinking ('idle'), but CUPS still > tells me that the status of the printer is: > Busy - "Waiting for printer to become available." [....] These three lines are repeated at intervals until the end of the log. The "Failed to set alternate interface . . ." message comes from cups via Debian's usb-backend-further-enhancements.patch. It would seem that cups has a problem communicating with the printer via the usb backend. Some history of the patch is at http://www.cups.org/str.php?L3965 Printing using the usb backend has changed since Squeeze was released. My knowledge of things USB is sparse but it might be the suggestions made in bug #697970 could help.
