There's a btrfs deduplication tool at https://github.com/g2p/bedup; it does require sources of btrfs-tools to build. Because of that, I have a hunch that you'd prefer to package it yourself -- and if not, it's you who has the best idea how to deal with it. That's why I'm bothering you. The tool has a number of restrictions: * it uses a hacky way of locking files * there's a race condition that may lead to other processes who try to open a file for writing getting permission errors * a crash may leave immutable files (needing a manual chattr -i) * only whole files can be deduplicated * the page cache is not shared between shared blocks * needs root * needs kernels newer than wheezy's -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
