Package: hdparm Version: 9.39-1+b1 Severity: wishlist The output of tests done with hdparm -tT is ambiguous:
/dev/sda: Timing cached reads: 3148 MB in 2.00 seconds = 1573.74 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 616 MB in 3.01 seconds = 204.92 MB/sec That should at least be MiB to conform with the (arguably new) standards: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MiB Also, the manpage could explain how the test is performed which would clear out any ambiguity even if the output isn't changed. For reference, the test is performed as follows (based on reading the source code of time_device() and time_cache() in hdparm.c: -t 2 mebibytes blocks are read sequentially from the disk as fast as possible for up to 3 seconds. -T the same 2 mebibytes block is repeatedly read from the disk as fast as possible for up to 2 seconds.
