Hi, I had same problem too on Linux 3.4.28-2.20-desktop i686 openSUSE 12.2 (i586) KDE: 4.10.1 "release 552" for now the trouble seems solved
Mail of Luca Pertile suggested me to check system settings of KDE. I tried to make changes on desktop and icons themes then I rebooted and now klipper icon is present on system tray. Thank you.
