Thank you for your bug report.

I'm taking over maintenance of this package, and a new version of it is
available at http://mentors.debian.net/package/sfst (for which I'm still
looking for a sponsor).

Applying your patch breaks the build process on my machine. With the
patch, some branches of the if-then-else structure around the patched
lines (specifically "if test x$ARCH = xi686" and "if test x$ARCH =
xx86_64") seem to be skipped, although I can't see the reason why.

Could you please verify that you can build sfst (version 1.4.6g-1
provided at the URL above) with your patch, and that the generated
'configure' file contains the condition "if test x$ARCH = xi686"?
