Caveat: I never switched from 'timidity-patches', which is partly why
'timidity' doesn't work on my system -- some upgrade conflicted with the
old patches, and I haven't gotten around to fixing it. So I expect to
see error messages.
Running 'timidity' gives this error:
% timidity -ia ; echo $?
/etc/timidity/freepats.cfg: No such file or directory
timidity: Can't read any configuration file.
Please check /etc/timidity/timidity.cfg

...yet there is a config file:
% ls -l /etc/timidity/timidity.cfg
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1156 Sep 11 19:16 /etc/timidity/timidity.cfg
It seems the error's usage of "any" doesn't allude to
'/etc/timidity/timidity.cfg'. Quite confusing.
It would be better if the adjective "any" were changed -- to what
exactly I don't know, but would suppose that if 'timidity' couldn't find
a distinct and particular file, it could say something like:
timidity: Can't read _patches_ configuration file.
...or, one of these depending on what's missing:
timidity: Can't read configuration file '/etc/timidity/foo.cfg'.
timidity: Can't read framistat configuration file.
timidity: Can't read doohickey configuration file.
...and so forth.
