It may be a bug in libgcrypt11 or how it is used by libgnutls, but the behavior is the same of #640501 so I merge the bugs. >> Newer versions of gnutls (like libgnutls28) deprecated libgcrypt in >> favor of libnettle and when the affected applications will be ported, >> the bug will go away with libgcrypt. >Is it just a matter of selecting the right library/backend at compile >time? >If yes, maybe it could be simpler to close this issue. As I understand it is a licensing problem as libnettle uses gmp, that is licensed as LGPL3, but some applications linked with libgnutls are GPL2 that is incompatible: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=658739#42 >> >If libgcrypt11 is responsible of this, maybe this issue should be >> >addressed before next stable. >> I think so too. Also the severity should be raised. >I agree. The problem may be how libgcrypt 1.5 is used by libgnutls and/or the target application, but anyway it seems hard to switch to libnettle in wheezy: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=368297#122 Downgrading libgcrypt seems to be the less problematic fix of the bug.
