Package: oval-interpreter
Version: 5.7.2-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

The latest ovaldi release is 5.10.1.4.
  http://sourceforge.net/projects/ovaldi/files/ovaldi/
Would it be possible to update it if this is still in use
within Debian. The popcon usage count is very low; if you're
no longer interested in active maintenance, it may be preferable
to request its removal.

oval-interpreter uses xalan-c 1.10. 1.11 is the current upstream
version, which I've packaged here:
  http://nagini.codelibre.net/~rleigh/xalan/
I intend to upload this to experimental shortly, and to unstable
once it's been better tested. You're also welcome to be a
co-maintainer since you're currently the only direct user
other than docbook.

I'm mainly filing this bug because ovaldi is the only package in
Debian rdepending on xalan, and it's using deprecated interfaces
which were removed in version 3 of xerces. It's highly likely
that this incompatibility was fixed in a more recent version
of ovaldi, so when libxalan gets updated, this package will
FTBFS unless it's also updated.

Since we're currently frozen, this won't be a problem until
after the release is made. I'm just filing this as a TODO
for early in the jessie release cycle.

Regards,
Roger
