Hello, sorry it's been a while since the last update on this issue. Recently i had some spare time to test this again with the current wheezy d-i image from 20130112-15:23. The problem still exists, even on current IBM Power hardware. The problem seems to be with the way the d-i ISO was mapped to the LPAR via a virtual optical device from the VIOS. This throws off the "/usr/lib/partconf/find-partitions --flag prep" command with the mentioned error message (see [2] for a detailed explaination). It used to work up to and including the lenny d-i. Newer d-i and/or kernel versions showed the described problem. For a quick'n'dirty fix i'd like to propose the patch in [2] or [3], whichever seems more suitable. Other than that, the tested wheezy d-i worked flawlessly on a IBM Power7 LPAR with network and storage devices backed by dual VIOS. Great work!
