That's not the whole story. The x.org project removed some "domain I/O code", which was for big SGI Altix machines. Unfortunately x.org introduced a bug in the X server 1.12 with that change, which prevented some x video drivers from buiding on ia64. The bug is fixed, see Debian bug#685750; the Debian ia64 buildds built the mentioned video drivers in the meantime. I just want the former dependencies.
