I am currently running 6.0.5 with kernel 3.2.0-0.bpo.2-amd64
I have tried to install both bpo.3 and bpo.4 and with both my CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor fails to function. i.e. the CPU runs at 2MHz regardless and I cannot change it manually. With my current kernel and all previous, I can set the Monitor to either Conservative, OnDemand, Performance, or Powersave.
It is important to have control over the speed of the CPU otherwise the fans are noisy and are prone to need more frequent replacement or servicing.
There is clearly some linkage failure between the various elements involving CPU regulation in the later kernels, but I am not able to determine what that is. I tried fiddling with the files parameters which purportedly control CPU regulation without success so reverted to my current kernel.
