Dear Mr. Oron (or should I say zumbi?), I've been preparing an updated package with an eye towards getting it into experimental; you can get it at <https://mentors.debian.net/package/gdb> and/or <https://github.com/SamB/debian-gdb>. It also attempts to fix some small defects in the packaging. (There is also a corresponding update to gdb-doc at <https://mentors.debian.net/package/gdb-doc>, but the only actual changes I had to make for that were actually in debian/sanitize-gdb.sh in the gdb package.)
There are probably more improvements I could make, but it seems that I will be away from the internet for the next few days (my grandfather seems to be dying), so I thought I might as well throw what I've got your way ...
