It shows an error to me. After I click "Rename" a window pops up stating:
"Could not rename file ./2/*/./2/tst to ./2/*/./2/TST
[Errno 2] No such file or directory"
Then of course a * is already created in 2. Choosing "Ignore errors" skips, choosing "OK" shows me following:
"Could not rename file ./1/*/./1/tst to ./1/*/./1/TST
[Errno 2] No such file or directory"
... when there is already a * in 1.

The example can be bypassed by selecting "Files and directories" and keeping the "Selection pattern" empty.
