Yes, I suppose I just mean that when looking at the output of dpkg -l 'notmuch-*' notmuch-emacs is a bit more discoverable than notmuch-el (assuming the hypothetical user who knows what emacs is, but not neccesarily .el). Mainly I think there are not at the moment compelling enough reasons to go through the trouble of changing the binary package name.
