Package: uswsusp Version: 1.0+20110509-3 Followup-For: Bug #529217 Are you by any chance using a Radeon graphics card?
For me doing the susped to disk dance and then not powering off locks up the card. The sdriver cannot initialize the card when it is not in the default state. Unless you happen to own the exact same card a Radeon driver developer owns.
