Hi Stefan, I can confirm that this works with
linux-image-3.7-trunk-amd64 where compilation failed before building a virtualbox package with your debdiff. For 3.8-rc2 I still get a build failure, but that might be due to having done a make clean in the linus vanilla git clone make-kpkg linux source directory. Will retry with 3.8-rc3.
