That's true. Sometime in the past, there used to be tarball shipped in
{thunderbird,icedove}-dev, which was, AFAIR, called
build-system.tar.gz. However, it was removed before I took over
enigmail maintainance. I don't know why, maybe because enigmail was
the only user?

I hope so, but I don't know for sure.

I could at least write a short documentation when I upload the next
upstream version (once it is released) and include it in the debian/
dir. The problem for the older releases is that I would have to check
for each individual tarball which revision of the bazaar repo from the
Ubuntu people I used, in order for the documentation to be useful.

BTW: Can I set the maintainer field of enigmail to the Mozilla
Extension Maintainers?
