Package: transcode Version: 3:1.1.7-3 Severity: important
transcode seems to crash whenever I try to rip a DVD here. Here is an extract from what happens with a DVD that has no bad sectors:

That DVD was made in 2004 to store personal videos. I do not know which software was used. I also tried with a commercial DVD-ROM (2009) and had the same result. I'm attaching a script of my attempt to rip the commercial DVD.
Several hits show this problem is not new, and presumably an upstream problem:
http://www.mail-archive.com/transcode-users@exit1.org/msg01673.html http://us.generation-nt.com/answer/problem-k3b-help-208070751.html https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/26208 I have not tried with other ffmpeg versions. This seems to make it impossible to rip a DVD using K3b. --- System information. --- Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 Debian Release: 7.0 990 testing security.debian.org 990 testing debian.mirror.iweb.ca 500 unstable debian.mirror.iweb.ca 1 experimental debian.mirror.iweb.ca --- Package information. --- Depends (Version) | Installed ==============================================-+-======================= mawk | 1.3.3-17 OR gawk | xterm | 278-4 OR x-terminal-emulator | liba52-0.7.4 | 0.7.4-16 libasound2 (>= 1.0.16) | 1.0.25-4 libavcodec53 (>= 6:0.8.3-1~) | 6:0.8.4-1 OR libavcodec-extra-53 (>= 6:0.8.3) | libavformat53 (>= 6:0.8.3-1~) | 6:0.8.4-1 libc6 (>= 2.12) | 2.13-37 libdv4 | 1.0.0-6 libdvdread4 | 4.2.0+20120521-2 libfreetype6 (>= 2.2.1) | 2.4.9-1.1 libgomp1 (>= 4.2.1) | 4.7.2-4 libice6 (>= 1:1.0.0) | 2:1.0.8-2 libjpeg8 (>= 8c) | 8d-1 liblzo2-2 | 2.06-1 libmagickcore5 (>= 8:6.7.7.10) | 8:6.7.7.10-5 libmagickwand5 (>= 8:6.7.7.10) | 8:6.7.7.10-5 libmp3lame0 | 3.99.5+repack1-3 libmpeg2-4 | 0.4.1-3 libogg0 (>= 1.0rc3) | 1.3.0-4 libpostproc52 (>= 6:0.8.3-1~) | 6:0.8.4-1 libquicktime2 (>= 2:1.2.2) | 2:1.2.4-3 libsdl1.2debian (>= 1.2.11) | 1.2.15-5 libsm6 | 2:1.2.1-2 libtheora0 (>= 0.0.0.alpha7.dfsg) | 1.1.1+dfsg.1-3.1 libvorbis0a (>= 1.1.2) | 1.3.2-1.3 libvorbisfile3 (>= 1.1.2) | 1.3.2-1.3 libx11-6 | 2:1.5.0-1 libxaw7 | 2:1.0.10-2 libxext6 | 2:1.3.1-2 libxml2 (>= 2.7.4) | 2.8.0+dfsg1-7 libxpm4 | 1:3.5.10-1 libxt6 | 1:1.1.3-1 libxv1 | 2:1.0.7-1 zlib1g (>= 1:1.1.4) | 1:1.2.7.dfsg-13 Recommends (Version) | Installed ============================-+-=========== sox | 14.4.0-3 transcode-doc | 3:1.1.7-3 twolame | 0.3.13-1 Suggests (Version) | Installed =========================-+-=========== mjpegtools | 1:2.0.0+debian-2 xvid4conf |
