I also do not like those emacs startup files be configurable, and agree that
if possible we should take this outside the initialization files to the user
options area. I have just sent another mail with a possible fix for this.

The problem is that the code is in loaddefs.el, and that is where the menu
is built. I do not know how to modify that menu from outside, but I fear I
would need at least non small parts of ispell.el. I really never looked into
this, and I do not consider my current lisp skills enough for that, for
somebody more skilled, this might be easier, but I never fiddled with
{x}emacs pop-up menus.

Not a time waste at all, that is a real (minor) problem. I think that
making that load user-configurable would at least make things much
better.
If the proposed fix for this last works, do you prefer to leave this bug
report open for the menu part, or should I just close it on upload?
