how do you launch reportbug? if from the menu, open a terminal and run
'reportbug' from it and attach here the error messages outputted on
the terminal.

reportbug and reportbug-ng have completely different code bases, so
the fact they both fail to report the bug smells like other problems,
in particular because you reported this bug with reportbug..
