When starting emacs in a distant session (ssh -X) I always get messages like (emacs:27931): GConf-WARNING **: Client failed to connect to the D-BUS daemon: /usr/bin/dbus-launch terminated abnormally without any error message GConf Error: No D-BUS daemon running (emacs:27931): GConf-WARNING **: Client failed to connect to the D-BUS daemon: /usr/bin/dbus-launch terminated abnormally without any error message This is very annoying as it scramble the terminal with garbage messages, completely non informative. I opened bug 695910 against gconf, which was closed explaining it was completely normal gconf cannot work in a ssh -X session.
