Package: busybox Version: 1.20.0-7 Severity: wishlist The devmem applet is very useful for developing and debugging low-level code, such as device drivers. It is particularly handy on systems that do not have an external debug interface (JTAG).
Ubuntu currently packages the devmem2 program to meet this need, but devmem2 is broken on 64-bit systems[1]. If CONFIG_DEVMEM is enabled in the Debian busybox packages, there will be no need to fix (or continue carrying) the devmem2 program.
