FYI, I've bumped into this issue while trying to install debian-6.0.6-i386-netinst.iso on an Asus EeePC 701 -- which means this is affecting debian stable (in fact, the latest, thus recommended "stable" form of Debian installation).
I've still didn't try any other ISO to get around this issue, so if you want me to try a certain release or other, just send me an e-mail.
