I'm still using the (current) one from Debian Squeeze, and every time
there is a security update I have to remove those libraries again to get
it to work.

after remove libimgicon.so write:

After removing libimgicon.so and libmailcomps.so run.
I am using Debian 6.0.4, kernel linux-image-2.6.32-5-686,
icedove-3.0.11-1+squeeze7, icedove-l10n-ru-3.0.10-1
