Perhaps it's reasonable to improve the defaults (although at first
glance this suggestion strikes me as excessively magic and rather
fragile - from a package maintainer's point of view rather than that of
somebody looking at the whole state of multiarch in Debian, I wouldn't
want to rely on it), but I don't see any reason why packages shouldn't
be explicit anyway.  It would take less time than we've already used
between us in this discussion. :-)
