As Roger suggested, adding the dependency is a good idea, because otherwise the automatic adding of the -P option which the init script does is not working and the user does not know why. Therefore, I NMUed a version of oidentd with your patch and a dependency on "iproute | net-tools". I am NMUing because I could not find any Debian activity by Stefan Bauer (the maintainer of oidentd) in 2012 at all and this bug has been open since 2012-05-14.
