gscan2pdf uses the standard GTK+ file choose dialog - allowing you to save files wherever you like. The dialog in 1.0.4-1 defaults to "Recent Files", thus saving in the directory you last used (in any GTK+ application). I changed this upstream in v1.1.0 to default to the last directory used by gscan2pdf - this is still not the directory in which gscan2pdf was started, which I feel is not useful.
